BIOGRAPHY > Jay Gaune

I've had a passion for photography ever since I can remember.  Growing up, I loved  snapping photographs of just about everyone and everything in my neighbourhood -  It was my way of viewing and documenting the world.  When I was a little older, I received a manual film camera and suddenly infinite creative doors were opened to me.  I found it amazing how I could capture a single scene in many different ways, just by changing technique, lighting, composition, and equipment.  I was hooked! To this day, there's nothing like watching prints come to life.  I really can't imagine doing anything else!                    

In 2001, I completed my professional photography education.  Since then, I've been capturing images of Canadian artists and musicians for CD covers, posters, web-sites, and press releases.  I also enjoy a wide variety of assignments from fashion, arts, portraits &events, to editorial & commercial photography.  Although  I do various types of photography, I wouldn't say I'm a "generalist" since I treat every job with focus and dedication, and my style always comes through.  Please feel free to view some of my work in the gallery!
