In the spring of 2005, my husband and I, after 18 years of marriage, decided to renew our wedding vows. We wanted to hire a photographer to take some professional pictures to capture our special day. Living in the country, we had no idea where to begin looking for a photographer in Winnipeg . While surfing the internet, Jay Gaune Photography came up on the search. We looked through the photo gallery Jay had on his website and liked what we saw. I emailed Jay and he was very prompt responding back. He was interested and available for the day we had chosen, so we booked him. My husband and I went to Winnipeg to meet Jay a week before our day. He was helpful giving us suggestions as to where a good location would be for our ceremony and where we could have some nice pictures taken. He came across to us as very energetic, accommodating, and flexible person with a great personality. We were also looking for someone who had some neat ideas to create some unique pictures.

The day of our renewal, at Assiniboine Park , we hardly noticed Jay around as he took pictures throughout the ceremony. The pictures we have say it all, as he captured the moments of our special day. My husband and I had so much FUN posing for pictures before and after the ceremony. Jay was really great to work with: He made us feel so comfortable and our pictures looked so natural. Because we lived out of town, Jay went out of his way to get our pictures developed for the next day. We loved the photos of our wedding renewal! We immediately bought a small photo album and we love to show them off. My husband’s sister cried when she looked through our album. We showed our pictures off at a party once, and this woman, who we barely knew, looked at them and afterwards said, “Wow, you guys are really in love.” Jay definitely captured our true love for one another. We had 3 of the black and white, and 2 of the colour photos blown up into 8x12’s. We love looking at them hanging on our wall. I liked the idea of getting our negatives along with the pictures. That way we have control of what we want reprinted, enlarged, etc. whenever we want. Some photographers keep the negatives and you have to go through them to get reprints. We also felt that his fees were reasonable for the quality of pictures we received. I would hire Jay in a minute if I needed professional pictures taken for a special event or portraits of my family!
